Grill or Be Grilled is the third episode of the animated miniseries.
Synopsis[]
Zed and Addison use lime soda to try to win a barbecue contest, but instead they create a culinary disaster: a pizza monster that wants THEM on a plate.
Plot[]
The episode starts off with Bucky explaining the contest that is being held; “The Zombietown Summer Festival of Eating!”. He mentions the three teams that would be competing:
Team 1: Zed and Addison, whom are making grilled Pizza using Addison’s Grandma’s starter.
Bucky then teases them saying they were making ordinary Pizza with old dough, to which, Addison gets mad.
Team 2: Willa and Wynter, whom are trying to cook a Sasquatch.
Bucky claims they think they’re in the wrong contest until Willa explains the idea.
Team 3: A-Spen and Eliza, whom have made a machine that can cook anything (except humans and brains).
Zed realizes that they have no chance of winning the contest after looking at what the other teams had in mind. So, in a feat of adrenaline and desperation, pours some lime soda, the same type that caused the original Zombie outbreak, onto a pizza that was grilling. Addison gets mad at Zed for doing that, to which she accidentally electrocutes the aforementioned pizza turning it into a monster and it starts wrecking havoc.
Zed and Addison remember that A-Spen said that they’re machine could make anything, and come up with a plan to defeat it.
Using the fire pit Wynter and Willa dug out, and the remnants of Eliza and A-Spens machine, they lore the pizza monster into the pit and turning into something they could eat. Coach then takes a bite of it, declaring it the winner. Bucky then says it’s the first time the winning chef was also the winning food.
Zed starts to point out another time the winning chef was the winning food when the Sasquatch that Willa and Wynter were trying to cook appears asking what they were eating, and the two Werewolves have nervous looks on their faces.
Trivia[]
- This is Bucky, Coach, Eliza, Bonzo, and A-Spen’s debut in the miniseries.
- This also happens to be one of Bonzo's appearances in the miniseries and the only time in the franchise he’s shown speaking English, instead of zombie tongue.
- This episode essentially confirms that Bucky is not related to Angie.
- If Bucky was related to Angie:
- He wouldn’t have called her starter old, since that would be rude.
- Addison, when bringing her up, would’ve said “her and Bucky’s grandmother” which she doesn’t.
- If Bucky was related to Angie:
- This is the third time in the franchise where the lime soda appears with the first appearance being in Z1 and the second being in Z2.
- This episode suggests that the Moonstone originates from the Aliens' original home planet.
- When the Moonstone energy got into contact with lime soda at the power plant, causing an explosion, it turned people into zombies and when Addison’s electricity gets in contact with the lime soda, that was on a pizza, it created a pizza monster.
- If this theory is true, it acts similar to Kryptonite. The moonstone is lethal to the aliens and Kryptonite is weakening, and possibly lethal, to Superman and Supergirl.
- The exterior of the homes in Zombietown match with the same buildings shown in the film franchise.
